1. Project Planning & Scheduling:
• Develop, implement, and maintain project schedules, ensuring timely completion of all construction projects.
• Work closely with the project management team to define project timelines, key milestones, and resource requirements.
• Use scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) to develop and track project plans.
• Create detailed project work breakdown structures (WBS) and milestones.
2. Resource Management:
• Coordinate and allocate resources efficiently to ensure the successful execution of the project.
• Assess the availability of labour, equipment, and materials to meet project needs.
• Ensure the project team is adequately supported and aligned with project schedules.
3. Risk Management:
• Identify potential risks in the project timeline and propose solutions to mitigate delays.
• Analyze critical path activities and prioritize tasks to reduce the likelihood of project delays.
4. Reporting & Monitoring:
• Track the project progress, monitor deviations from the planned schedule, and provide regular updates to senior management.
• Prepare weekly/monthly reports on the status of the project, including any delays, issues, or corrective actions.
• Review and update project schedules regularly, and ensure timely reporting of project deviations to the team.
5. Stakeholder Communication:
• Collaborate with project managers, contractors, subcontractors, and clients to ensure the schedule is understood and adhered to by all parties.
• Lead and participate in meetings with stakeholders to discuss project progress, challenges, and solutions.
6. Quality Control:
• Ensure that planning activities comply with company standards, industry regulations, and health and safety policies.
• Implement best practices in project scheduling and planning processes.
7. Cost Control:
• Monitor and control the project budget by ensuring that costs are managed and resources are utilized efficiently.
• Provide input to cost estimation during the planning phase, and track cost performance throughout the project lifecycle.
8. Change Management:
• Assess the impact of any changes in scope, schedule, or cost and ensure that they are reflected in the project plans.
• Ensure that the project team and stakeholders are updated on changes that affect the project schedule.
9. Team Leadership & Development:
• Lead and mentor junior planning engineers and planning team members.
• Foster a culture of continuous improvement and skills development within the planning department.
Ensure timely preparation and submission of bills to avoid delays in payments and project progress.
